4 Reasons You May Not Be Getting Better (And What To Do About It)

Have you tried “ALL” the different supplements, diets, medications, herbs, and detox protocols and STILL not feeling well?

When someone has tried “everything” but still feels sick, I find there are 4 common areas that typically get overlooked and prevent people from getting better. 

Let’s take a look. 

1. Mold exposure in the home 

Exposure to mold suppresses the immune system, congests detox pathways and can lead to a host of health conditions and symptoms including anxiety, depression, digestive issues, chronic sinus infections, brain fog, and even cancer. 

A lot of people think that they would know if there is mold in their house, believing mold would be visible and that there would be a moldy or musty smell in the house. However, both of those things are not true. If mold is trapped behind a wall or under floorboards you may not see it or smell it but it can still be negatively affecting your health. 

The other misconception is that mold is an old building problem. This is false. In the right conditions mold can start growing in any building 24-48 hours after a water damage event. No matter how old the building structure is. 

I often hear people tell me that they have done air sample testing and that the test results came back negative for mold. Remember that a negative air sample never rules out mold. Most toxic molds don’t easily float around and, as mentioned above, are often trapped behind building materials. A better testing option to start with is an Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) test. 

2. Asymptomatic dental infections

Silent infections in the mouth from root canal filled teeth and jawbone cavitations (the two dental issues I see overlooked most often) affect more than just the mouth. The constant low-grade infections create a stress on the body and lead to systemic effects. It is common to see neck pain, joint pain, and brain fog with untreated asymptomatic dental infections. 

Working with a biological dentist who understands these things is important for proper diagnosis and treatment. 

3. Breast implants

Breast implant illness is real and many women develop a variety of signs and symptoms including chronic fatigue, brain fog, pain, hormone imbalances, chemical sensitivities, recurrent infections, headaches, autoimmune diseases, and much more due to the inflammation and toxicity from their breast implants. 

How fast the implants start to degrade and begin to create symptoms is very individual and may depend on how much toxins are being released, how well the body is able to excrete the toxins, and overall toxic load and immune status of the person.

Some women with breast implants may start experiencing symptoms fairly quickly after initial implant surgery while for others, symptoms may not appear until years down the road. 

4. Inherited and developmental trauma 

Unprocessed trauma can lead the part of our brain called the amygdala to constantly send stress signals to the rest of the body. Telling it to numb out, to tighten, to dissociate whenever we experience something in the moment that does not feel safe to us. 

Over time this can create a chronic holding pattern in the body, limit blood flow to certain areas and eventually lead to chronic pain and other symptoms. 

The good news is that we can rewire the brain and reverse the effects of trauma. 

Having positive experiences and feelings such as gratitude, compassion, love and kindness can help change and rewire the brain. 

It can also be helpful to work with a person skilled in helping to process unresolved trauma, clear transgenerational trauma patterns and limiting thoughts and beliefs so you can have the space to create a new reality for yourself that includes health and wellbeing.
